I have a 2000 Ford Contour se, 74000 miles, 5 spd v6 and when I'm driving the car is pretty quiet. When I turn it off after driving for a while, it sounds like there is a whirring noise from under the hood. Almost as if it is winding down.
I just had a lot of work done on the wheel bearings and alignment. Do you have any suggestions as to what would cause the engine to make that noise?
