1999 Ford Contour rear main seal motor.

i am looking for some help in how to change a rear main seal motor problem on my contour that leaks oil...
if you have any video's or proper directions for me to change this correctly with out damaging my car please help !!!! sincerly mustang..

This is a big job. The transmission needs to be removed because the seal is a one piece unit. Here are the directions I found:

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2.Remove transaxle and flexplate/flywheel using the recommended procedure.
3.Using a sharp awl, punch a hole in the rear oil seal metal surface between the oil seal lip and the oil seal retainer.
4.Screw the threaded end of a seal remover into the oil seal, then install a slide hammer and remove the seal from the crankshaft oil seal retainer.


To install:

5.Clean all sealing surfaces.
6.Lubricate the crankshaft, oil seal bore and the lip of the seal with Engine Assembly Lubricant D9AZ-19579-D or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C80-A.
7.Install the oil seal using an appropriate seal installer. Seat the seal flush to the rear of the crankshaft oil seal retainer.
8.Reinstall the transaxle and flexplate/flywheel using the recommended procedure.
9.Reconnect the negative battery cable.
10.Start the engine and check for leaks.
