1999 Ford Contour Car shaking

I have a 1999 ford contour that will hesitate occasionally when accelerating, being the worst between 50 and 60 MPH. The problem goes away temporarily when you let off the accelerator. It's a pretty noticeable shudder at 50-60 mph, but before that it's just a slight hesitation.
