1998 Ford Contour 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Need to know how to change rear control arms on a 98 controur.......... i have got the inner nut off but cannot get the little lock washer off to get the bolt out.... please help

Retaining rings have a split where they may be accessed to expand it enough to fit over the bolt and then be slid off . Some retainig rings have a tab that protrudes above the ring groove and can be accessed with needle-nosed pliers and opened using a twisting motion and then removed by sliding off.
