1996 Ford Contour problems with my fan

it seems when i start my car my fan turns on to cool the engine. when the engine hasnt been running for hours. could it be the thermostat?

plus i just had my mechanic change my timing belt. but it makes noises.

no my a/c and defroster wasnt on. i just feel like the engine is just over working itself.

You'll need a scan tool to see what temp it's seeing and whether it's requesting the fan.
