My mechanic informed me that the passenger side front axle housing was bent. The issue is that the axil does not seat all the way in the automatic hub and because of this when driving in two wheel drive and hitting a good size hole/bump the the front hub creates an extreem amount of noise. The way I get it to stop is by hitting another good bump or coming to a stop engaging the four wheel drive then disengaging it. I would like to correct this. I brought it to two shop's each of which stated a cost of $800-$1000 to repair and possible more. I am pretty handy and wonder if this is something that I could do on a weekend. What should the parts cost and what special tools would be required?

Thanks,
