I am trying to replace a leaking water pump on an 88 Bronco. We have everything removed but can not figure out how to remove the power steering bracket and get the water pump off. I have a guide but it does not go into detail into how to remove this huge bracket.

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

Below are instructions to remove your steering pump and bracket assembly. If you need further assistance just let me know.

POWER STEERING PUMP AND BRACKET ASSEMBLY
Disconnect the return line at the pump and drain the fluid into a container.
Disconnect the pressure line from the pump.
Loosen the pump bracket nuts and remove the drive belt. On the 4.9L engine or 5.0L engine with a serpentine drive belt, remove belt tension by lifting the tensioner out of position.
Remove the nuts and lift out the pump/bracket assembly.

We are still not exactly sure how to remove the power steering pump. Do you have any photos or diagrams or any other step by step explanation related to the power steering pump and assembly. I guess that is the real question because we have removed everything else and know how to replace the water pump but can not get just one bolt due to the power steering pump bracket.

I will send a picture in a little while.

Okay. Below are full details for removing your power steering pump. It involves the use of a special service tool (pulley remover).

I have attached a couple of pics. One of the whole engine and the other I am pointing to the specific bolt. We can not figure out how to swing the power steering pump or ps bracket assembly out the way. As you can see from this picture this bolt is in the way. What am I missing here?

Its a bolt or stud I guess coming off the water pump so you would either have to move the bracket forward towards the front bumper or the pump backwards towards the rear bumper to back it out of the hole neither of which is possible?

hi, you will need to remove the other bolts that hold the bracket, then remove the rear power steering pump bracket, this will allow the whole assembley to come forward off of the stud. There is a hex on the stud after you remove the braket/pump assembly to remove the pump.

Thanks for all your help so far. We have removed the two bolts you can easily see in the pic but can not figure out where else there might be bolts that need to be removed. Any chance you can provide specific locations of the additional bolts and pics if you have them. Thanks again.
