Steering Column

Well Here about 2 mos ago I had a shifting cable malfunction on my 1992 ford aerostar van , and it has been running fine since yesterday morning go out to leave and the van turns on fine when I go to put it in gear its like the shifter is broken and it slipped into drive but I didnt want to drive it so I got it ( barely) to go back up into park but just working at it for about 10 minutes and then my keys were stuck in the ignition finally got them out and well MY QUESTION IS... Help what could be wrong , I have heard 2 dif things and I am curious to know what someone else thinks Thank U

Help what could be wrong , I have heard 2 dif things and I am curious to know what someone else thinks Thank U[/quote:626381ebfc]I had a simular problem, my shifter housing broke inside the steering column, Pull the steering wheel and the plastic covers and you will see the shifter rod on top of the column. there are 6 screws that hold it on, the shifter rod is inside a cast housing, this housing was broken in hafe on mine.
