95 Aerostar motor mount

I have a 95 Aerostar cargo van with the 3.0L 2wd and 186k miles. I know that some type of mount is Shot as I've inspected the shearing 1st hand but the after market motor mount looks very different from whats installed. Mine looks like 2 curved rectangular pads right above the front axle. The after markets are completely round and appear to be one piece. Is this even going to work I'm including a pic of the mount I'm talking about and see what you think.And yes I'm aware of the power steering fluid leak its a loose fitting[img:ddf634c77f]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/76833_mm_004_1.jpg[/img:ddf634c77f]

I know some Ford motor mounts have hydraulic fluid in them. Maybe that's what is leaking. I'd take them back and explain your problem to the parts store you bought them and make sure it's the right replacement. They should look the same. Or you might want to return them and buy the motor mounts from a Ford dealer.

That was what I figured I didn't even buy the after market mounts yet because of it. Seemed that something was very wrong. Round peg in a rectangular space sort of thing. As for the leakage you may well be right. But I assumed it was the loose power steering hose fitting.

The final word is this If you run into the same issue as I have you will either have to A: Go to the local Junkyard or B: Ford parts center since its a Ford only part and discontinued it's roughly a 3 day wait depending on your locale.

Yes you can buy the after market lower motor mount but only if the lower portion of the mount has failed. Unfortunately Mine was the upper bracket that attaches from the motor mount to the block, that had sheared and failed.

Ford sells this as a one piece upper and lower assembly that runs around 50 bucks after tax . And if you decide to use the scrapyard approach make sure to bring 2 jacks, deep well sockets, and lots of bolt loosening solvents
