1994 ford aerostar

Hi,
After sitting a few monthes my !994 areostar (149000 mileage) only drove a few miles till it died and wouldn't start again. After tring to give it a jump start it would crank over but not start. I thought it might be the fuel pump, but I can hear the pump make a whriling nosie when the key is turned over. Can it still be the fuel pump?

the fuel pump is a posibilitiy make sure you have plenty of gas and that the old gas is not stale or has any water in it that could dramaticly effect it. also some punps have the pin place underneath the pump you can hold a pin in it and crank it over if it shoots out fuel its less likely that it is bad..
