1993 Ford Aerostar Heater blowing luke warm heat

Is the engine running at a normal temp? With the engine hot and the heater on, feel both heater core hoses and make sure they are both hot. Also, is the blower motor shutting off when you accelerate or does it change direction to the defroster?

yes both heater core hoses are hot but get very luke warm heat..... as far as the blower it cuts out completly when you put a load into it. Thank you.

It sounds like a couple problems. First, the blower motor sounds like it turns off when you place it on high. You will need to see if the power is lost when that happens. As far as the heat, check the blender vent when you get to the blower motor. It may not be opening enough or it could be damaged.

The blower motor seams to work fine until you accelerate up a hill.... maybe its shortening out or something??? As far as the blender vent, where is that located? I have a Haynes books but it dont get into detail on the heating/cooling section. Thanks.

It should be near the heater core. Also, is the blower shutting off or is the direction of the air changing? I tried to get you a picture of the heater core section of the car, but wasn't able to from a manual. The only thing I could get was this:

I think (hard to say by this picture) it's the right above where the core sits.

Its like the blower shuts right off when accelerating. I will check the blend door and see how it looks. Another thing, do you need that rubber seal that goes around the heater core? Because I never put it back on with the new heater core cuz it didnt fit right. If what your telling me works, I have no problem donating to you as well. Thanks.

The seal does just that. It seals the HVAC. I don't think it would be causing this much trouble for you, but it may have someting to do with it.

OK I will find a seal and put that on as well, is there only one way that the blend air vent goes (how do I know if its in the right position?)

OK today on my way to work I did notice that when the heater stops blowing through the vents it does go to defroster. I havent noticed that it did but as soon as your done climbing a hill or put a load on acceleration, it goes from defrost back to vent again.
