Air Bag Popping Sound on start up

When I start up the car, the auto check system on the passenger side air bag makes a popping sound and then there is no noise after the check light goes off.
I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred, 6 cy (?), 22K. What is the problem and how soon do I need to get to the dealer?
