I have recently been told that my flywheel in my car is cracked and will need it replaced. When replacing do you have to drop the motor or is there another way around dropping the motor? I was thinking the transmission could be dropped and the flywheel can be replaced that way. Please get back to me, thanks!

Being that is a rear wheel drive it would be easier to drop the transmission than removing the engine. Still a bunch of parts but many have to be removed for both options.

Okay thanks, I had a mechanic who told me it would cost me almost $2,000.00 to replace the flywheel because he would have to remove the motor to get to it. in all reality I think he just was trying to get more money out of me. Thanks though this was really helpful!

It would depend on the shop, some would pull the engine, I would not because it is faster to drop the transmission.
