Fluctuation on water level gauge

Hello. I have a fluctuation in the water level gauge and I just changed the coolant sensor and still does that. I read somewhere that if the fluctuation is to fast it can only be from that sensor, but you never know. Any ideas?

Is the vehicle overheating? Have you changed the thermostat and is the coolant level full? Does the engine temp stay steady when driving at highway speeds?

Hi. Actually no, the car doesn't overheat. I only changed the coolant sensor, and the coolant is full. I have video of the movement. Also, I used some OBDII because I got the engine light and I have attached photo. This is why I changed the coolant sensor.

There is a problem in the wiring. Check to make sure connections are clean, tight, and not corroded.

I cleaned the connection, and tried to follow the wiring, but it looks like has protection, small portion with some textile and the biggest part with plastic tube. Didn't managed to check the origin, can t seem to find out where it goes. Any other suggestions? I also want to add that this happens more often when I drive "sporty" after it reaches 90°.

Okay, thank you anyway. I will try to find out a way to check the whole wiring of the sensor, maybe even change it. I ll let you know if somehow I ll fix it.

Yes, I ve replaced it. But I m thinking of changing the connector and the wiring somehow.

I understand. I would just check its condition. Make sure if there are pins in the connector that they aren't pushed back into the plug causing it not to make a good connection and there is no dirt or corrosion.

Hello again. I haven't resolved this problem, although I took the car for a proper diagnostics, they told me what I already knew, that error that I have shown you. What I noticed lately, the light it s coming on more often, and the fluctuation is happening when I accelerate, the harder i push the pedal, the faster and longer is going to 0. Also, my car has 2 water temperature sensors?

On many cars, there are two sensors. One is for the gauge in the vehicle and the other provides information to the car's computer.

I just read back over everything you and I have discussed. In your first post, you indicate it as a water level gauge. Did you actually mean a water temp gauge? On many vehicles, there is a level gauge in the coolant reservoir which will indicate if the coolant level is low. That is something much different than a coolant temperature sensor.

No, it is not the level, :) the level it is at almost maximum. It is the water temperature, like I told you, when I accelerate, it goes all the way down from 90, but only when it is in gear.

Are you certain that the correct ECT was replaced or did you replace both?

Well, I took the sensor out, and coolant was leaking. I guess it was the correct one. I don t know if I have 2, that is what I have asked you, if you have any idea of that.

That is information I don't have because the vehicle isn't listed in any of my manuals. The one you replaced, where was it located? Have you checked on the radiator for one?

The one I replaced was located under the oil dump stick in the front of the engine, middle section. No didn't check, but I will today on the radiator and on the right side under the whole thing. I will come back with answers. :)

Hi again. So, I found out that I have 2 sensors, the thing is that I have changed both and I still have that fluctuation of the gauge, but not affected by the throttle like before. I can mention that when I changed the second one the engine was kind of warm to hot. Running out of ideas here.

What to do is determine which one is for the gauge in the vehicle. One is for the computer and the other for the gauge. Inspect the wiring to that sensor for damage, the connector for corrosion, and recheck the sensor for leaks.
