the belt that drives the alternator moves across one rib and turns the belt that drives the power steering up side down.

the belt that drives the ac rides up on the tensioner pulley until it rests on the engine

One of the pulleys is out of alignment, either tipped or turned. Usually it's the one right before the one where the belt is walking off to the side, and most commonly it's caused by an idler pulley, not the generator or power steering pump.
