Okay so my boyfriend has the truck listed above XLT super cab 4 wheel drive truck. And we have been having a turn signal problem, so what happened was every time he would turn on either the right or the left turn signal it would automatically blow a fuse every time and we replace that fuse countless times. So then the turn signals quit working all together but the hazards worked for a few days but quit working. so we have replaced the multi switch that wasn't the problem, then we replaced the flasher relay box under the dash, and now we still have no turn signals, but the hazard lights started work again. But the battery light on the dash flickers on everytime we try either the right or left turn signal.

Good evening,

I attached a wiring diagram for you to view. Check the 2 wires I circled at the multifunction switch for power with the key on.

Hello, I just replaced my multi-functional switch “it’s brand new” and I still don’t have my turn signals or hazards. I also replaced my flasher relay and swapped out brand new fuses. I only have my driver front side coming on but the other three don’t come on at all. Just put new bulbs in as well and I’m starting to get frustrated. Any suggestions?

Note the diagram, the wires underneath multifunction switch, voltage for right and left signals. See A and B at the top that should be voltage from flasher, turn and or hazard. At the lamps, the top wire should be voltage and the bottom black wire is ground. You need voltage and ground.

Just started yesterday. Turn signals work and bulbs flash on left and right just fine by themselves. If you press the brake while a turn signal is on the flash accelerates, the rear turn signals on each side flash (dimly) on each side. The front turn signal bulb does flash but is also accelerated. This acceleration and dimly lit light show also happens if I use a turn signal and the headlamps are turned on. Individually, each turn signal works, brake lamps work, everything. It is only the combination of turn signal on with brake pressed or turn signal on and headlamps on.

Any ideas on where to start?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

You have a bad ground. Power is back feeding through other components to complete the circuit. If that isn't the case, then you need to check the wiring harness at the light sockets for shorts, but honestly, it sounds like a ground issue.

I have attached a picture for the lights in question. They all have a common ground. That tells me that either the ground is weak (rust or corrosion) or it is loose and when the added load of both circuits is added, it fails. The schematic indicates ground location.

Check this and let me know what you find.

Here are some general links related to checking wiring and basic tools. I don't know if you need it, but I thought I would add it.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

This is characteristic of a bad ground wire at the rear. You can identify a clue by turning on the left signal light, then observing the right side will glow slightly. Sometimes that can be too hard to see, so another way to verify this is to remove the bulbs from the right side. If the ground is bad, the left side will stop flashing or it will flash differently. If you turn on the brake lights, you may see the front signal lights glowing dimly. With the rear ground broken, current for the rear lights finds an alternate path through the interconnected front lights, then to ground up there in the front.

Also check if the license lamps are working.

The ground in question is "G200" shown at the bottom of the second diagram. AllData online service manuals went down for service just as I was trying to copy the ground location diagram. Typically that will be a wire bolted to the body sheet metal or the frame near one of those lights. It could be bolted to the box behind a tail light housing to protect it from moisture, or it might be bolted to the bottom of the box.

Since neither is working, I need you to first check two fuses in the interior fuse box. See pic 1. If both fuses are good, then suspect a faulty flasher, also seen in picture 1. It could also be related to the turn signal switch, flasher switch, or a wiring issue.

Here are a few links you may find helpful:

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions. Check the diagrams below.

All the blinkers and lights work but the left rear blinker. When I flip it to the left blinker inside the truck it makes a fast clicking sound and blinks fast. I changed the bulb. That was not the problem. Please help

Go to the socket and check for 12 volts on the terminal that corresponds to the light green / orange wire. If you find pulsing 12 volts there, the ground wire has a break in it. If the 12 volts is missing, that wire could be broken anywhere along that harness, but a better suspect is a corroded splice. It appears there are two wires coming out of the bulkhead connector on the inside of the truck, under the dash. One is that light green / orange wire for the rear light, and the other is a light green / white wire coming from the signal switch.

The hazards and turn signals use two different flashers. Did you replace the flasher for the signals or the hazards?

Check fuse # 7, a 7.5 amp in the fuse box inside the truck. Here are wiring diagrams for the blinkers so you can see how the system works and test for power loss.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers

The turn signals in the truck stopped working. We replaced the turn signal switch and it still isn't working. Any suggestions on the next step to take? The hazards work, and all of the bulbs are working as well. I'm kind of at a loss right now as to the next step.

check fuses in picture it looks like the flashers are part of interior fuse panel which may need to be replaced or a mechanic may be able to wire two flashers in . Not something for a person to handle. See picture.

My hazards work fine but my turn signals keep blowing the fuse. i have changed the multi function switch and the flasher but not sure if flasher i installed works properly. I was told if i had hazards then the flasher relay was fine. i do not think it would be a wiring issue going to the bulbs or the bulbs themselves because like i said the flashers work fine. I also have no reverse lights. the truck has not had reverse lights since i have had it for a couple years but just recently I am having turn signal issues. Help!

Good morning,

The turn signal flasher and the hazard flasher are separate flashers.

I attached a picture of the locations for you.

I would also check the wiring for the turn signals as well if it is blowing a fuse.

seepic, make sure power is going to t/s switch from flasher and out of switch with arrows. then check connection of t/s switch for corrosion if it has it clean off what you can then use dielectric grease get at auto parts. for about $2 usually on counter. tehn check to see if power goes to rear at sockets it may be bad sockets or wiring is shorted between switch and sockets. you can use a test light to check

Normally this is a multifunction swtich issue so I am attaching the process below on how to replace it.

However, I am also attaching the wiring diagram because the way to confirm this is to check voltage coming from the switch which will tell us if there is a possible issue.

Please take a look at the info below and let us know if there are questions. Thanks
