Fitting a RYCO Fuel Water Separator?

So, an extra fuel filter can cause issues because the fuel system is highly tuned, and it might start to throw codes. You will just have to try it and see. There is no documentation on doing such a thing so I am interested to know if it will work. I have included a possible location for the new fuel filter. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Just to give you a full picture, I have already changed the OEM fuel tank for a Titan 162 lt aftermarket tank and did not have any issues with codes.
The new filter is 10 microns and I'm thinking that it wouldn't be as restrictive as the OEM filter on the motor?
Do you think that, not getting any codes from changing the tank to the larger one could mean that it may be okay to add the filter?
I have had many diesel Chevs and runabouts with duel outboards 300hp and upwards and have always fitted fuel water separators without any issues.
My friend who has the same vehicle picked up a load of bad fuel (water in the fuel) from a fuel station and the damage bill was over 10K.
I think I will try fitting the filter in the spot that you suggested and will refrain from cutting any original hoses and just make some hoses that fit in between and see how it goes.
Just an observation and not directed at anyone... I find it ridiculous that a vehicle manufacturer would design a fuel system that wouldn't allow a suitable, high quality fuel water separator to further enhance the protection of a highly tuned fuel system.

Yep, I agree, I would try the filter and see how it goes you should be okay.

I will organize to have it done and post the outcome.
