Expansion tank fitting removal

No, not really. You should be able to compress the clip with pliers and move up the hose. Twist the line as you pull on it to remove. you can also use a screwdriver to get underneath the hose to break it free. Work your way around the hose as it is breaking free to make sure it is broke free all the way around.I have included in the diagrams down below a guide on how to remove the expansion tank which will have directions on how to remove the coolant line from the expansion tank to the radiator in it. Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you find out, and how things go.

Sorry thats not an answer to my question. I have a 2000bmw z3 6cyl. The fitting is on the expansion tank next to the bleed valve. Your answer appears to be something completely different

I am not trying to get the hose off of the radiator i am trying to get the plastic fitting off of the expansion tank

Its the overflow line im talking about and the plastic fitting near the bleed screw..as i said i raised the clip to the up position but the plastic fitting doesnt come free. I dont want to damage the plastic expansion tank by applying excessive force..

What does the clamp on the hose look like? There are only a few ways used to attach hoses to components. The hose was put on the tank, it can come off the tank. Usually most vehicle manufacturers have opted for using the crimp style hose clamps. By this, I mean a hose clamp that when squeezes together with a pair of channel lock pliers, should open up allowing you to move the hose clamp to wherever you want. when you let go of the clamp it springs back into place locking the hose to wherever the clamp is. If you could take a picture of the hose and the hose clamp in question I would be happy to help you so the nipple on the expansion tank will not be damaged.

Okay, this looks like a duck bill quick connector. Does the clip push through two holes on the bottom side of the connector? If so, simply pull the clip on the connector on your vehicle now and pull the hose off. It's designed to get the clip past a lip on the neck the hose is on. Then you push the clip(Duck Bill) down through the connector and now the lip and the clip hold everything in place because the clip can't go past the lip if it decided to try to back off. If it's not wanting to come off the nipple, twist it a little when you're pulling the hose off.
