Code p2098, check engine light came on and there is no exhaust pressure from the tailpipe

To answer your question yes, you might have a hole, leak,or break in the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter thus creating the code P2098 which is for an unmetered air leak in the system.You should take your VW to a local muffler-exhaust repair shop and they can find the leak and repair.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2carPros.

Oh boy guys this is a good one. I guess. I had just changed the power steering pump right before I asked about the exhaust. The car has set overnight and all day and I went out there to go ahead and make sure everything was okay with the power steering pump which all is good...I was having a bit of an electrical problem but I believe we fix that.. just by changing and adding fuses. The check engine light has been on the whole time and I can still hear that exhaust leak. now the check engine light is no longer on. So I had the car running but I was making sure there was no air in the lines from the power steering pump I just so happen went around to the back of the car to get something out of the trunk and I noticed water and steam coming from both tailpipes and dripping onto the ground.. the steam was very light and I did not notice any type of smell..before I mentioned there was nothing coming out of the tailpipes. that has changed. I guess my question is why would that have changed all of a sudden and if there's still issues like that why did the check engine light go out? I didn't notice any oil around the inside of the tailpipe. something I should check again.

I've also added a picture of more of the exhaust system to check for a possible leak or leaks.It also shows steps on how to remove. I've circle the exhaust manifolds and pipes where the might be a leak in the gaskets or exhaust pipes. also, the best way to eliminate air from the power steering pump after replacement is with engine running cycle the steering wheel from all the way left to all the way right.That will get rid of all the air from the system.Once the air is out you will no longer notice air bubbles in the pump reservoir.Keep us updated or let us know if you have any further questions about this issue.Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
