Equipment

I am looking to start stocking my home garage with some equipment for doing some of my own car repairs and have a question regarding air compressors. What should I be looking for in an air compressor? Maybe I'd like a good - better - best scenario? I know that I would prefer a electric powered rather than gas. Thanks for the help!
