Engine won't start, Security indicator light off

I got in my 2003 QX4 this morning, started the engine - started as usual and everything seemed to work fine until I shifted gears to R, at which point the engine went off. I tried restarting several times afterwards without luck. The engine just cranks but won't start.

I noticed the security indicator light, which usually blinks after I shut all does and lock the car, remained off. When I lock the car, the security indicator light stays on for about 15 seconds then goes off, and stays off.

I also noticed that the 4WD indicator light has all wheels blank regardless of which drive mode I select - 2W, Auto, etc...

I'll really appreciate any advice to solve this problem.
