After engine has warmed up and at warm idle, I notice a vibration. No miss, no backfire, just an obvious vibration. This vibration is more noticeable when in gear (drive) and less when in park or neutral. It is 'driving' me nuts!

Hello, I am Danny.

Is there a chance you could use your phone to make a video of the vibration and upload here? It is hard to diagnose a noise without physically looking/seeing the car in person. It could be a motor or transmission mount. With the car in gear/driving it could also be a suspension component. Best thing to do is have the car put on a hoist and have everything on the suspension/undercarriage inspected. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

There are many things that can cause a vibration. First, here is a link that discusses vibrations and ways to locate and repair them:

Next, make sure there are no engine vacuum leaks. A leak can allow un-metered air to enter the engine and cause it to run rough. Here is a link that shows how that is done:

Next, a worn rubber mount located on a motor mount can do the same thing. The rubber is designed to insulate and absorb vibrations. When the rubber mount is worn, you can actually have metal to metal contact between the mount and frame. As a result, you feel the engine running (vibrating).

Here are links that discuss motor mounts and in general how they are replaced:

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
