Engine will not stay running

It starts and runs fine cold but after a few minutes it's sputters at low RPM and shuts off. It will restart and Idle but as soon as I put it in gear it sputters and shuts off again.

This can be the result of a few different issues. Things such as fuel pressure, vacuum leaks, engine coolant temp sensors, and so on can cause this.

With that, can you tell me if the check engine light is staying on when the engine is running? If it is, you need to scan the computer to identify diagnostic trouble codes. Most parts stores will do it for free, or they will lend/rent a scanner to you.

It could also be related to the crankshaft position sensor. Take a look through this link:
