engine swap

Good morning,

If you need a motor replaced, it is best to stay with the year, model and exact engine size.

Some of the exact same size motors may not work due to engine mounting for the mounts.

If you need a motor, I check with car-parts.com.

Okay, i think i said that question wrong the car i am getting will be a fwd car but i am going to get a engine from a car that is rwd. i am planning on swapping a 2jz into the car as long as that would work and if there is not tons of work need to be don't to make it fit.

What year and model for the donor engine?

the engine is going to be a 2jz from a 2005 rwd automatic Lexus is300.

Okay, the donor is a straight 6 versus the V6 you currently have.

Yes, it will fit but this will be a huge project. You will need the engine and transmission from the Lexus along with the complete wiring harness from it as well.

None of the wiring will work at all. It all has to be changed.

My concern is the programming of the ECM. This engine is not an option for the Z so it has to have someone who can do a customer programming for this swap.

This will be a huge project with custom wiring and the driveshaft is different as well. The length may be different and require one of the shafts being cut, welded and balanced.

Okay, thanks so much for your help. i have not bought either of the cars yet; so do you think there is a car that would better fit what i am looking for? It is not a big deal to me the drive train i am only wanting a car that can fit a 2jz engine and it to be manual. there is really no other concerns i have. i just need it to be a project that will not be too big of a job.

I would look at the older Supra series. The mid to late 1980's had the 5ME motor which is an early version of the engine you want.

Okay, thanks so much my last question is, if i did find a different car would it only need to be rwd for me to engine swap it with a 2jz engine or would i also need to do lots of work?

You need to install the engine that was an option.

The reason I told you about the older cars is the ECM is not an issue with the older ones at all.
