engine stopped, steering stuck and brakes stuck (cannot be pressed)

Has it done it again? Has the check engine light come on?

As far as the brakes and steering, the power assist brakes are actuated by engine vacuum. If the engine stalls, that vacuum is lost. The brakes will still work, but you will have to push much harder. The steering is assisted hydraulically by a pump. If the engine stalls, the pump stops and it becomes manual steering (very hard to turn).

Let me know if it has done it again or the check engine light has come on again.

thanks for response. after restarting car. it has been working fine. no issues. This same thing happened a year ago. it just happened once. nothing was done about it and it has worked fine ever since. You still think this is related to engine? is it this worth fixing?

I feel the engine stalling is the cause of the steering and brake issues. As far as fixing it, if it is running good again, that makes it hard because it won't show any codes or problems. With this kind of situation, (and I hate to say this) you have to wait until it won't restart. At that point, you will be able to find the problem.

As far as "is it worth fixing?" If the car has been reliable, is in good condition... my suggestion is yes, it is worth fixing unless you end up with a huge bill. The way I try to explain it is like this. If you had to put 1000.00 dollars into it, at least you know what you have. If you spent 1000.00 on a used vehicle, you have no idea what you are getting or what it needs, and frankly, how good of a car can you get for that price.

Keep that in mind when you need to put money into your present vehicle. Yes, there will come a point where too much is being put into it. At that point, it may be time for a new one.

I got autozone to read the codes. they said 3 out of 6 cylinders are misfiring (1,3,5). They said i would have to replace the spark plugs. Do you think misfiring could be the reason for the issue it was caused.

Yes, a 3 cylinder misfire would cause it to stall. However, I don't think the spark plugs are the problem. Since 1. 3. and 5 cylinders are all misfiring, there is a good chance it is a coil issue. By any chance, did they tell you the codes they found? Based on what you told me, they should have found P0301, P0303, P0305. Were there any others?
