engine stalls

P0505 is a code for the IAC valve (idle air control ). have the iac checked and clear the codes the other codes are related the purge control and the EGR system. i would sort out the IAC first and then see if the other codes re set before looking into them.

Yep there are two things that come to mind which is a vacuum leak or the EGR valve is sticking open.

This would effect the EVAP system as well

update, drove the vehicle for a few days trying to recreate the situation, eventually the vehicle did stall out, vehicle would start but would not run, let the vehicle cool completely down, vehicle will not start now, vehicle has two codes p0601 and p1740, the 1740 code seems to relate to the transmission so I'm really confused now

P1740 is for the TTC it may be locked up and the car is trying to drive off in top gear, a live data read can show if this is the case, the solenoid valve may be stuck due to dirty oil, a bad electrical connection or the valve has just failed. some times a master re boot can help. Disconnect the battery and this can often re boot the TCM and see if that helps.

When it stalls out does it do it when it is driving or when you come down to a stop?

update, took it to a dealer and had it checked on their diagnostic machine, the tech thinks it's a faulty fuel pump relay, so far though I can't find the relay, any ideas?

It looks like the relay is in the under dash fuse panel/relay box. Here is a guide and some diagrams (below) so you can do some testing.

This car is driving me nuts. I changed the EGR valve and the fuel pump, drove fine for three weeks and stalled out again, would restart but only run for a few minutes. It has a p0300, 303, and a 306 code. It has individual coils so I would not think that would be the problem. Not sure what to check next.

Another update: I smell fuel at the engine and there is a bit of white smoke coming from the exhaust.

Is the coolant level low? It might be nothing. To me it sounds like the PCM is bad causing the issue or you have an ignition coil or injector shorting out intermittently.

Ken, why did you ask if the coolant was low, also is the pcm the same as the engine computer? I was also wondering since it set a random misfire code and a code for two different cylinders and since the coils are individual to the cylinders would it be not more likely that whatever controls the spark would be the culprit rather than an individual coil?

I asked if the coolant was low to see if it was leaking inside the combustion chamber creating the white smoke. The engine computer is the same thing as the PCM. I was thinking PCM but wanted to make sure one of the injectors or coils was not causing the issue.

You can try a used PCM and plug it in to see what happens here is the location.
