That sound like an internal engine problem, i would get it looked at by a mechanic ASAP i would go as far to say do not drive it as you may destroy the engine, this will have to be diagnoses first hand, but it does sound like a bearing issue with that deep metallic noise, one this you can try is to remove the external drive belt and run the engine, if the noise is still there it will be internal of the engine.

Okay, i hope it is not something bad, but best to err on the side of caution, make sure that they remove the drive belt first and see if the noise is gone, just in case it is an external bearing failure.

Reminds me of my old Ford Sierra 2.0 is. The oil pump was worn-out, so when the engine was idling the oil pressure was lost and the camshaft started to rattle:) sounds like it is coming from the inside at the bottom of the engine. I just bought the car a week ago, so it is disappointing to discover sounds that should not be there. Thankfully I am covered by a great insurance;D (bthe way:excuse my French, i am Norwegian). :)

Problem solved!

Turned out to be rattling in the joint in the shaft going to the balance assembly.

Lucky you got on top of that as it could have damaged the crankshaft

Its not too bad the oil pan must come off to do the job. Here are instructions/diagrams. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

You need to take it apart and see which parts are worn and making the noise. Please upload pictures/videos of any parts in question.
