Engine power cutting out during acceleration?

While accelerating the engine power will cut out for a moment and then kick back in. This only happens once in a while. Twice it has gone into what I assume is limp mode and one other time the engine shut off 10 or so seconds after.

Yep, this can be a limp mode or engine misfire issue, I would start by checking for codes which this guide can help on:

Next, I would do a full tune up with ignition coils and I would service the throttle body. Here are two guides to help and I have included instructions for your car in the images below:

2.4L engine typically uses NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plugs with the part number ILKR8E6 or Denso Iridium TT Spark Plugs with the part number IKH20TT.
