Engine overheating

Hi. When the car is on and not moving (like at a stoplight) the temperature gauge starts rising. When I start driving, the temperature gauge comes back down.

The fluids are topped off, there are no leaks, and then when i open the hood and look while the car is running, the radiator fan is running.

Any suggestions?

It is good the fan is running but can you tell me if the fan blade is in good shape? And does it seem like the fan motor is running at full speed? There is really not to much that can be wrong except for the fan motor because it is solely responsible for cooling the engine at a stop. I have seen the fan controller go bad and run the fan at half speed. Check the diagrams below.

First off thanks for the response, I greatly appreciate it! I checked the fan blades, and they are all intact and no damage. The fan appears to run at full speed, but I have no point of reference if it is running at full speed or half speed.

Could the thermostat be the issue?
