After oil change the check engine light is now flashing and I have a knocking noise in the engine

I have had my car since 2019, I have always taken it to the dealer for oil changes every five thousand miles since I had it. they were putting in six quarts of 5w-20 synthetic blend oil. The last oil change i got, they told me they changed oil types after they did the oil change and they put in five quarts of 5w-30 synthetic oil. I have gone about 2,000 miles and my check engine light is now flashing and I have a knocking noise in the engine.

Hi,

The vehicle calls for 5.07 USQ of oil. If they were using six quarts, they were overfilling it. Also, the oil type certainly doesn't change the quantity needed.

What on earth did they tell you? Also, have you checked the engine oil to make sure it is full? I just want to note, there are several technical service bulletins on this vehicle related to excessive engine oil consumption.

Let me know what they told you. I attached the specifications below for oil replacement with a new filter (highlighted).

If they were charging you for six quarts, I would be a little upset.
