Ever heard this from a 6.4l hemi motor? Only has 60,000 and is offered for sale dirt cheap, but for reason. Do these have the same issues like 5.7l does as far as lifters?

Hello,

Being automatic the 6.4 engine is equipped with MDS, Multi-displacement system.

A good write up:
https://tuningpro.co/5-7-and-6-4-hemi-mds-guide/

The 6.4 is affected the same way as the 5.7 HEMI by failing hydraulic lifters and resulting worn camshaft.

If the tick only lasts for a few seconds (up to 30 seconds) then this would classify as normal.

See a good video on a RAM with the 6.4:

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Boris

Hello,

Hard to say, the noise is not rhythmic enough for a lifter. Could well be an exhaust manifold leak. These often suffer from snapped off manifold studs at the rear.

A good video:

and

If it is an exhaust leak it can be provoked by loading the drivetrain. With the engine running put the vehicle in forward gear, apply the brakes and accelerate. An exhaust leak should get louder as the exhaust is being stressed.

Cheers, Boris

Use the old dowel/screwdriver trick. Hook your thumb over the end of the item and stick it tight to your ear and probe with the other end or use a mechanic's stethoscope. See if you can pinpoint where the sound is coming from, to me it sounds like a bad cam follower bearing. They get "crunchy" before they fail.
