Engine noise?

Hello,

Thanks for the previous help with the engine vibration, the motor mounts were changed and now it is smooth as ever.

Now I'm hearing noise from the engine. Not sure why, but it's annoying. The vehicle has power, nothing is leaking, and after some driving time the noise does subside somewhat.

Any idea what this is? I will attach a video so the noise can be heard.

Hello,

Thank you for the video, unfortunately you do not zoom into the area where the noise is coming from.

To try and find the noise see if the noise changes or goes away completely by removing the ancillary's belt.
You can then spin the ancillaries by hand to see which one is making noise.

The noise is from the Valve cover, but I will check and let you know.

Also, the serpentine belt pulley was changed recently, if that helps.

Hello,

If the noise sounds like scraping comes from the valve cover area, then it could be caused by a camshaft pulley scraping against the backing plate, a faulty coolant pump or a timing belt idler roller.

Hello Boris,

It turns out the noise was from the alternator, the bearings failed. Thank God it wasn't from the engine block!

The repair shop, who replaced the original unit back in '23, replaced the unit at no cost save the labor (and that was discounted also!). The supplier, even though the unit was out of warranty, replaced it free of charge.

I could not be happier! Thanks for your help.
