Car runs great I'm just concerned Engine like says engine electronic DME I don't understand that. Second engine light says anti-theft alarm system DWA. Seem to be electronic but I don't know. The DME is my main concern I would think not sure. Please and thank you for your help. Kenny

Hi,

If it is running properly, it could be several things. Have you scanned the computer for specific codes? If you have, let me know what they are. They will help point me in the right direction.

If you haven't checked for codes, I recommend having the can-bus scanned. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules on the vehicle are connected via a few wires so they can communicate with each other. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

Let me know. Also, please confirm the engine size. Is it a 2.0L turbo or a 3.0L V6 turbo?

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

The code, 3490, is specific to a 12-cylinder engine. What engine do you have? Also, the pics you attached didn't show up. Could you retry?

Let me know.

Good morning, Joe, hope all is well. I have a 2.0L 4 cylinder. What is a MAP thermostat activation line. I put in the vin number before scanning instructions said that was best.

Hi,

It is a way to better enhance the engine temp control. Basically, the thermostat has the addition of a heating element and is controlled via the PCM.

See pic below.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Hey, my friend, I had the thermostat and water pump changed today. The car runs great like a brand-new car with no engine light on of course. I'm going to have to drive it to make sure they don't come back on. I was trying to go see if I could figure it out on my own. I need a vehicle for this Saturday. So, I had to put in the shop spend the money. But it seems to be correct.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I feel the thermostat was the issue. If it appears to be working properly now, you should be fine.

However, if anything changes, let me know and we'll get it fixed.

Take care of yourself and feel free to return anytime in the future.
