I have a loud engine knock on cold start, when I accelerate it gets worse but once running for 5 minutes the knocking goes.

Hi,
Does the sound completely go away or just get quieter? Is it loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear? Based on your description, it could be a main engine bearing or rod bearing. See if you can tell if it is louder on top of the engine or from under the vehicle.
