Engine Jumps when I put it into drive.

I bought this car about a month ago from a friends dad. He had it for 5 years and has never had a problem with it. He had done regular maintenance and had the transmission serviced last summer. Last week I noticed when I put it into drive then engine jumps but doesn't do it in any other gear. At first it was barley noticeable but now it makes the car jump. I know these cars are known for transmission problems. I'm hoping its just a motor mount and not the transmission. Someone told me it could be idling to high or low that could make that happen. What do you think this could be?

You're going to have to look at the engine mounts of have the car inspected. We can't do that over a computer. One of them is responsible for controlling engine rocking when shifting between reverse and drive, and when accelerating and coasting. Look for the rubber isolator between the two metal brackets to see if it's dry-rotted, torn, soaked in engine oil, or if there's shiny spots on the brackets indicating they've been banging on each other.
