The engine fires a few times but will not start, where is the Crankshaft Position Sensor located?

What I need is the location of the crankshaft position sensor. 1992 Isuzu amigo 2.6 5 speed.

This doesn't have a traditional crankshaft position sensor. On this vehicle, it is a pick up coil inside the distributor. See pic below.

As far as the problem, have you checked for diagnostic trouble codes? If not, here is a link that explains how to check:

Thank you, Joe. It seems I found the right place for answers. Your info helps a ton. I did run diagnostic test. Got code 41. But I'm going to use the link you sent and see if I get anything more. Thanks a bunch. I'll update you on progress as it comes.

No problem. The diagnostics are to determine if the pick-up/crank sensor is working properly.

If you are uncomfortable performing the test, by any chance do you have access to a different distributor?

If not, try this. Disconnect the battery for approximately 30 minutes. When you reconnect it, the code should be cleared. At that point, crank the engine a few times and see if the code comes right back. If it does, I suspect the distributor may need replaced.
