Engine does not have power

The vehicle uses too much oil and even having blue smoke. It was taken in for repair and mechanic worked only on the top but the problem is still there.
Mechanic said he will work on the block.

Good evening.

It sounds like the piston rings are the issue.

He can confirm by doing a compression test both wet and dry. The wet test is done by adding a little oil into the cylinder and rechecking the compression. If it rises, then the rings are bad and need to be replaced.

Should he put standard piston rings or it need to be taken to engineering to bore the block?
However, he said he could not notice any sign of ridge on the block. This is just a question of clarity with you Roy.

He will have to check the cylinder bore and taper for out of round and taper. If it has taper and out of round, then yes, it needs to be bored out with new pistons.

This piston rings, should we use market or non-market, meaning the one from the dealership or we can buy from any auto spares?

You can get them at a parts store. As long as they are the correct size.
