Engine coolant over temperature alert

I would be looking at the thermostat and cooling fans first. Also, make sure that there is no debris building up around the radiator core as this can limit air flow. Is the temperature gauge running at the normal position? Also, is the coolant level correct in the surge tank? If low a cooling system pressure test will help locate any minor leaks.

The coolant level is correct and the gauge is showing all the way up to the H.

I would start with replacing the thermostat it sounds as if it may be stuck closed.

I also have a 2014 Fusion,it started making a noise like it was the crankshaft pulley.Then my car got overheated after a few days of making noise and went into limp mode.Had to have it towed home.Started checking the car and found it was the water pump that was making the noise and went out.You could move the pulley up and down.It never leaked any coolant.Replaced pump and timing belt.Had to clear codes to get it out of limp mode.Hope this helps.

I also have a 2014 Ford Fusion 1.5 and it is having similar problems I replaced both radiators, the coolant sensor at the drain plug, the thermostat, had a pressure tested at Ford no concerns. Drove it for a month or two and it overheated going down the freeway around 80 miles an hour. I had it towed home and then to Meineke shop the next day. At Meineke they found no thing wrong with my car Reset the “engine coolant over temperature “ code. It’s uncomfortable with the diagnosis so I took it to a highly rated shop here in Phoenix they kept it half a day ran nearly 1/4or more gas out of my car and found nothing with it either. Car ran good for about a week in the hot Arizona sun until I got on the freeway again and around 80 miles an hour over heated again. Only thing I have left to replace would be the water pump but nobody’s found anything wrong with that. Also does anybody know how to reset the code on my car engine coolant over temperature code?

I borrowed the code reader from AutoZone to clear the code.You have to leave about $200.00 until you bring it back.

Yes, if you disconnect both battery terminals and short them together for 30 seconds it will clear all the codes in the car.
