Engine light on. coolant over temperature gauge is past H. No engine power. But engine doesn't get hot fan is working. Hoses cool no steam nothing.

Hello,
This could be a problem with a short to power with the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (ECT) wire to the Power-train Control Module (PCM) or a short circuit with the ECT itself. If the ECT has a short circuit, It will "peg" out all the way hot and send that information to the PCM, which will interpret it as the engine being hot. It will cut power in an attempt to not let it run and blow the engine up. "Safe Mode". But, just to make sure I have included in the diagrams down below a Ford Factory troubleshooting diagnostic guide for engine overheating conditions. Please go through it and get back to us with what you are able to find out, please.
