Engine consuming engine oil

I am not good at converting to the metric system, but as close as I can estimate, there is a chance you do not actually have a problem. All engines today do use some oil between oil changes, and to address the numerous complaints, dip sticks no longer say "Add" and "Full". Now they are marked, "Min" and "Max". As long as the level remains above the "Min" mark, there's no need to add. Some mechanics just put in enough oil at the oil change to get it to the "Min" mark, so you can expect it to read low before the next oil change. It should be filled closer to the "Max" mark during the oil change.

If that does not solve the issue, consider adding a small bottle of dark purple dye to the oil, then check a few days later with a black light. The dye will show up as a bright yellow stain that you can follow back to the source. If it is burning in the engine, you will find the dye inside the tail pipe.

Auto parts stores will have the dye for the fluid being tested. Those that rent or borrow tools should have a black light.

Just to add to it, how were the spark plugs when they removed them for the compression test? If there was soot in any of them then you may have a problem with rings.

Also, are you using the right viscosity oil. For Honda it is usually 5W20. Even if your vehicle has over 100,000 miles the piston running clearance will not allow for example a 10W40 or 20W50 oil.

To really tell the health of the engine a tear down would be required. You would need to measure the pistons and the engine bore and compare it to spec.

What I am seen nowadays with these vehicles is lots of oil consumption from your domestic to over seas brand. Most manufactures do have an extended warranty to address this issue but you would need to go into the dealership to address your concern and get the manufacture involved. Every country has there own laws so it may be tough where you are at?
