The car runs great, but I have been told that I have to replace the on board computer because its unable to be read by the emissions test computer. I was told that if there are problems with the computer then the car would show some symptoms, like hard to start or rough idling or other problems, yet my car runs perfect.

The wires and fuses were checked and they are all good. Thanks for the tip. I just don't want to buy a new computer, and I can't find a used one any where in my area.

With a bad ecm the light may not come on as that is mostly for sensors etc. a professional will have to install the new ecm due to security. It has to be programmed in as it 'won't start. there are rebuilt ones available so any garage with a professional scanner can install this.
