Engine replacement/swap

Engine of my vehicle listed above got bad and needs replacement. Can I replace the 4.0L engine with a lesser say 3.3 L? What are the pros and cons of the downgrade?

Good afternoon.

The only pro would be better mileage.

The cons will win. You will need the engine, transmission, complete wiring harness, exhaust system and different sensors and ECM.

A very huge and expensive project to change it.

Would you consider a used 4. engine?
