I believe that the external voltage regulator is bad, but I am having trouble locating it. I know that is on the left fender but I don't know where it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good evening,

The voltage regulator is internal in the alternator. there is no external regulator listed.

What is the issue you have that leads you to the voltage regulator?

On the earlier 4 cylinder Troopers they used external regulators that were mounted somewhere on the left side.

On the earlier ones, yes, but not yours.

What is the issue you have?

I started having trouble starting the car a few months ago and ended up replacing both the battery and the alternator, which seemed to fix the issue. But about a week ago it began having trouble starting again. I tried just charging the battery. but it would quickly begin showing those same issues. I tested the battery and it was a little low but within the required CCA. I figured that the only other thing would be the starter, so removed it and had it tested, It came back as positive and working fine. The only other thing that id new was the voltage regulator.

Okay, what is the voltage of the battery?

What is the voltage at the battery with the engine running?

Let us start there.

I attached a wiring diagram for you. Make sure you have power to all 3 wires at the alternator that I circled.
