My car’s dashboard has been going dark recently then popping back on it’ll do that then sometimes almost every light except my battery light comes on. My car has never done this before, only after the snowstorm we had. That very next morning as I was on the highway it did that but the engine stayed running even before and after the dash came back on no battery lights or anything is being illuminated and it is still doing it, my mechanic believes it’s the super cold weather but this is sketchy can someone explain this phenomenon again no lights are on the dash now it just only goes dark then comes back on sometimes the dash gets really dim like its bout to cut out but I turn my car off when that happens and turn it back on and it’s back to normal.

Yep, the cold weather can cause all kinds of strange things to happen to the electronics. I would just run it to see if these get better in the warmer weather though it could be the dash panel LCD is going out. If this is the case, you will need to get a rebuilt unit by searching Google or Ebay. Here is how to change the cluster out in case you want to go that way. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Wow, yep that is not the cluster, thanks for the video, this is either the BCM or the center stack module. I am thinking BCM but we should run a CAN scan to see what codes are stored, this video will help us. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here is how to change the BCM out in case codes are stored for it. You can get a preprogrammed unit by searching Google or Ebay. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens. Thanks for the video, it helped.
