EGR question P1404 False Code

Hey guys, So this code wont go away, P1404 EGR pintle stuck open. removed the valve, was not stuck at all or carboned up. There is a TSB for re-flashing the PCM due to this false code and this car is on the list. I found a trick for reprogramming the PCM but not sure if it is going to work. and suggestions on getting this thing to relearn without having to take it to the dealership and pay them too much money?

Also, 12 volt power for the valve comes from the PCM, now plugged in, the power disappears, unplugged the 12 volts are there. The Red wire on the EGR. I read there should be power there either way. Anyone know if this is normal?

no check engine light so far! trick may have worked. sneaky PCM's.

I had to unplug the EGR valve (5 wire Type, not vacuum controlled)with key off. then with Key on, engine off, erase the codes, and immediately after the scanner says codes erased, turn the key to the off position. This is still with the EGR unplugged. Key off, plug the EGR back in and run the vehicle. I guess due to the plunger being plastic inside these valves, the parameters for the closed position go off slightly compared to what the PCM is programmed to see. So this causes the PCM to relearn the new closed seated position and solves the problem. Many people go buy a new EGR and have the same false code pop up. There is a TSB from the dealer for this issue to re-flash the PCM and that's altleast a $100 if not more, but this fix has worked many times for others as well. No new parts, just abit of research and good to go. Hope it helps others.
