I had asked a question about an ecm location for my 2006 Aaturn Vue with a Honda 3.5l engine and it was answered! Now I kneed to know can this be reprogrammed by a mechanic?or does it need to go to the dealer for reprogramming? Thank you

Any garage that has a professional style scanner can do it.

I was asked to step in and help out with this one.If they have a tech2 or another pass thru device/scan tool capable of programming gm ecms. Also they would have to have access to gm this software and website to download the calibration files for the ecm. You would have to call around and ask them if they can program gm ecms.or take it a GM dealer to have it done.

Great, thanks for all the help! but what I need to know is if I put in the ecm module myself will the truck run so I can drive it to the dealer to do the programming??

probably not due to anti theft may no allow it. try it and see but it may not run right

Is the ecm new or used? You might be able to do a 30 minute pass lock relearn to get it running. Why are you replacing the ecm to begin with?
