Replacing ECM, do I have to relearn the crankshaft position sensor? I was all ready to replace the ECM when I came across this information. I only have a actron 9600 tool, I do not think I can relearn the cps with it. My ECM has already been flash program.

Yes you would have to relearn the crankshaft position sensor.Your actron cannot do that. It takes a advanced scan tool to it.

This guide will help

Thanks. I got the ECM installed, but I still have the same problems. I spent $2000.00. I have gone through three techs, still no fix. Kind of at the end of my rope. Thanks for listening.

I also had the rim replaced. It is stalling and hard to start. On the interstate 60 mph it may just die, like I it is not getting fuel. Then will not start. I pulled a fuse or relay, plugged it back in. Bang, it starts and I can drive it for a while.

So when it stalls and dies what are we loosing spark or fuel pressure? Also have you thought about a bad fuse box or loose connection to the fuse box?

I think its fuel pressure. Whenever I pull fuel pump relay or fuse and plug it back in, it usually starts.

That does not really make sense unless your pushing on the fuse box causing it to start.

It does not make sense, yet it has been a seeming quick fix when I am stuck along the road. Sometimes I unplug the battery and it seems to do better. Maybe that one has nothing to do with the other, but when I am stuck out on the road with my wife I have to do something. These things seem to help. I like your thinking on the fuse box. It is something to look at.

I have seen open terminals going to the fuse box plus bad fuse boxes causing issues like that.

You are welcome try just pushing on the fuse box while someone tries starting it. Also I would unplug all the connectors to the fuse box and look at the connectors looking for open terminals. If you compare them to the other connectors they really stand out.

Yes, Saturn has been great. The car was running and I pressed around on the fuse board. It died when I pressed on the fuel pump relay. I don't know if that's a problem or if it died because it does sometimes. Can the fuse board be taken off easily? What do you think?

Let's try to make it die one more time just to be sure? But it sounds like we're down to the things bad relay bad fuse box or open terminals on the wires to the fuse box.

Well, new stuff. It doesn't, as of now, have a hard time starting nor does it die. I was driving it lurched and runs like a loose plug wires. Slight smell of sulphur. But it seems to start and not die.

Misfire all the time. How can it be that it starts all the time now, also it doesn't stall? This problem and the other we were working on related?

It had a po304. I put coil cyl 4 on cylinder3, and vice versa. I found I had a po300 after. I figured 4 coil was bad, after changing the coil I had a smooth running auto. Thanks for your time.

2003 Trailblazer, 6cyl, My won't start when the temperature outside gets below 30-35 degrees. When the temperature is warmer is starts right away. Check engine light comes on when it does start and after the second or third start goes off. Have taken to local shop and they say the codes are not common and seem to think it is in the wiring. The temperature has been under 30 degrees for a week now and will not start now. What is wrong?

Check to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine. If it won't start, one will be missing. Refer to our homepage under the DIY section for direction for checking both. Once you determine which is missing, then you know what circuit or system to attack.

Yes, it's the engine. What you described is typical of a misfire. How long has it been since the spark plugs were replaced? Have you checked for diagnostic fault codes? Many auto parts stores will do that for you for free. Has the Check Engine light turned on? If it has, most likely there will be a fault code indicating which cylinder is misfiring. If new spark plugs don't solve the problem, you might also suspect one of the ignition coils. You can verify that by swapping the one from the misfiring cylinder with one of the other ones, then erase the fault codes and see if a misfire code sets for the same or different cylinder.
