Just the other day while driving this happened out of no where. Automatic Trans... The fluids are good and full in the trans.
Upon starting the car:
-Shift into drive
-Trans shifts into 2nd fine
-When it tries for 3rd gear it is like going into neutral, but it is still in drive on the shifter.
-After that happens the car will only drive around in 1st gear, the engine rpm's just keep going up (like 3000rpm at 35mph)
The strange thing is even if I put the car into Park, then back into drive, it just stays in 1st. BUT if I turn the car OFF, and redo the process above, it does the same thing listed above (1st, 2nd, "neutral"). But its always the same after it tries to go into 3rd gear the first time from starting the engine, then I am driving around in 1st.
