Driveshaft question

I ordered a junkyard driveshaft that was supposed to have come off a 1990 Mazda B2200 regular cab short bed 5MT, just like my truck. I went to install it but it appears to be 1/4 - 3/8" too long. The assembly measures 63.5". I saw a question answered on the forum about a B2200 driveline difference between A/T and M/T and the answer was the (slip) yoke was a different length. Is the difference around 1/4 - 3/8"?

Does your original shaft have a slip yoke on it?

I posted a picture below for you. Which shaft does your truck currently have?

Yes. My truck is 2WD, regular cab, short bed, 5MT. I spoke to the junk yard I bought the replacement shaft from and they confirmed that the donor truck was also a 1990 B2200, 2WD, regular cab, short bed, 5MT.

Backstory is; I took my driveshaft apart a long time ago to get it chrome plated. Now I'm putting the truck back together but missing everything besides the 2 shafts. My shafts and the shafts in the donor driveline appear to be the exact same length. Trying to figure out why this donor shaft won't just bolt right in before I build up the chrome driveshaft.

Okay, is the slip joint totally compressed and still showing too long?

You can see in the photo that the center bearing mount is pushed as far forward as it can go, but the yoke isn't as far in as it was on the donor truck. Even pushed all the way forward it's ~ 1/4" too long to bolt up in back.

Got it. That will definitely not work. The slip joint has to be able to move.

You have the incorrect shaft. You will have to continue looking for the correct shaft.

This shaft I have should be the right one, and it's so close to fitting. I just don't get it.

If it is that tight, it is no good since you have no allowable movement from the slip yoke.

I have seen the drives being off a little which happens, a drive line service can help shorten it or you are going to need a different shaft.
