After being told my driveshaft had run out causing specific speed vibrations (40-50 and 65-75) by a reputable tech, I followed his advice on getting a salvage replacement with good u joints to replace original. However, I had no way of knowing the orientation or reference marks factory or otherwise, to guide in the installation of the replacement shaft. I have since lived with this nagging vibration issue, are there not factory markings for proper installation?

Good morning.

The rear driveshaft is a plug and play. There is no special installation procedure.

You just install the slip yoke into the back of the transfer case and attach to the rear differential.

I would use caution on junkyard shafts. I would have it checked first to be sure it is not out of round as well.

Thanks Roy, I was worried about the junkyard driveshaft, but after unbolting the flange and spinning the differential flange 180 degrees, the vibrations are almost non-existent except for a little rumble at 40-45 mph. Looking to balance it perhaps. What do you think?

That is a good place to start. It may be as simple as that.
